I was born and raised in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and moved to Lancaster in September 2008. I graduated from Elizabethtown College with a B.A. in Professional Writing and minored in Women and Gender Studies (concentrating on Feminist Theory). Practically everything you read that is written by me will deal somewhat with philosophy, power, women and the natural world. I love to read non-fiction, gender and queer theory, media law, film theory and poetry. My favorite writers are Annie Dillard, Jeanette Winterson, Mark Doty, Donald Hall, Rilke, Anne Sexton, Helen Cixous and Judith Butler. Sometimes the questions about life are more important than the answers.

I write every day. I worked as a proofreader at Gannett for three years and started copywriting and writing editorials. I have been a featured writer with Fine Living Lancaster since late 2009 and was offered the position of Copy Editor in August of 2010. The magazine is smart and fun and I love having the freedom to express my ideas in a way that readers find refreshing. I write a regular column called "Wear" and blog on the website. I wrote my first book in the second grade. It was called A Collection of Short Stories and it included stories about a hamster, a weasel eating Tabasco sauce from a crow, a circus worker who got nervous around tightropes, a poem about sleepovers and a non-fiction piece about our solar system. It could possibly be my best achievement to date.

A typical day for me includes consuming obscene amounts of Diet Coke, scribbling on graph paper notebooks, filling them with all the thoughts that fly in and out of my head, and eating a meal consisting of rice or pizza. I love my life and I am blessed beyond belief.

Facts:

1. I don't have a Facebook, MySpace or Twitter.
2. I have a ridiculously freakish knowledge of Bible verses and Pfaltzgraff pottery.
3. I collect typewriters, buttons and stationery.
4. My ultimate goal in life is to write a book and contribute to Harper's Bazaar.
5. I believe kindness goes a long way and happiness is the result of smart choices, relentless dedication and a little luck.
